Sometimes giving the time of day to a sexist isn’t the best way of dealing with them. But sometimes… sometimes… you’re at sea with them and there’s no getting off the boat, you just need some quick answers to the biggest sexist jibes, to right it and stand up straight again. This ‘zine will give a bit of that.

"This zine is adapted from my Masters research thesis, entitled '"I'm not waiting'. Doing it yrself, now: Challenging constructions of feminist activism and aesthetics in women's punk music communities". (Thesis now held at the Centre for Women's Studies, University of York, England).

I wished to engage the activist community in which I am part, with the academic community in which my research was part of, and bring the two together in discussion of contemporary feminist activism.

This collective zine, which began as 'assess your weapons', a slogan from stella marrs (www.stellamars.com), is the offspring of the Leeds diy feminist group Manifesta.
