"Ladyfest is a not-for-profit festival that was established in the early 2000s. It is organized by volunteers and highlights female artists, writers, musicians, etc. in a new way. Since the first successful Ladyfest, the event has taken place in many parts of the world, but this March (08.03 - 12.03.2011) Ladyfest kicks off in Tallinn for the first time. This marks a very significant event in Estonian cultural space.

A three day music and arts festival, with hands-on workshops, vendors, and performances at Flywheel Arts Collective and Smith College, our mission is to celebrate and support all musicians and artists in the DIY underground whose gender identity falls outside of the dominant cultural mainstream, including but not limited to women.

Wir planen ganz eifrig das nächste Ladyfest in Rostock vom 2. bis 5. Juni 2011, also Himmelfahrt in der Alten Zuckerfabrik.

Und da sich diese Verhältnisse nun einmal nicht von ganz allein ändern, haben wir uns entschieden, im Jahr 2011 endlich wieder ein Ladyfest in Leipzig stattfinden zu lassen. Das Ladyfest ist ein feministisches, unkommerzielles, subkulturelles, d.i.y.-Festival, das seinen Ursprung im Jahr 2000 in den USA hat. Ein Ladyfest bietet uns die Möglichkeit, Räume und Orte, die größtenteils „männlich“ belegt sind, einzunehmen und umzudefinieren. Einfach gesagt: Freiräume zu schaffen.
