Occupy Patriarchy! Zeltstadt der Frauen

Für den Frauenaktionstag am 12. Mai werden wir eine Zeltstadt der Frauen auf der Wiener Ringstraße errichten und das Patriarchat symbolisch und real belagern. Wir beziehen uns mit dieser Aktion im öffentlichen Raum auf die sozialen Bewegungen weltweit, die für eine demokratische und gerechtere Welt kämpfen und die Auswirkungen der aktuellen Wirtschafts-, Finanz- und Politikkrise nicht einfach hinzunehmen bereit sind.

"Take Back The Night" is an action regularly organised by feminists to oppose violence against women. In Belgium and the Netherlands this type of action is called "Hexennacht" (= Witch Night). Often it takes place on November 25th, the international day against violence to women.

Reclaim The Night - East Midlands

When : Saturday 24th October 2009
Time : 6:00pm onwards.

Reclaim The Night marches give women a voice and a chance to reclaim the streets at night on a safe and empowering event. We aim to put the issue of our safety on the agenda for this night and every day.

This is going to be a hugely inspirational event being held in Nottingham but we want it to represent the entire of the East Midlands. This will be a rally through the centre of Nottingham and then there will be speakers and acts (TBC) afterwards.
