Ladyfest

From October 28 to 30, 2011, at the Askatasuna occupied social center in Torino, you may join the Feminist Blog Camp. We are going to spend three days together, sharing our knowledge, attending workshops, shows, debates, music and art performances, readings, culture and IT in-deep examinations, open discussions on desire and sexuality, temporary employment, migrants and a lot of other topics. This meeting is entirely self promoted and managed.

CoWeb gets produced once a year during the City of Women festival. Every day of the festival, the events are documented online; in various languages, critical thoughts are formed about the events, discussions with festival guests take place, and the audience is asked about their opinions. Coweb represents the idea of the creation of DIY do-it-yourself web content and presents an opposition to mass media while at the same time serving as a form of critique of their treatment of culture.

"LADYFEST BELLINGHAM is a feminist festival celebrating the creativity of women, transfolks, girls, grandmas, and gender queers & nonconformists.

We define feminism less as a set of rules and more as a vehicle for asking questions and creating avenues for change. There are many forms of silencing but there are even more ways to make noise and claim space.

We believe that expertise is too often a male-defined construct. We believe that if the rules surrounding the production of art are preventing you from creating it then you have the right to disregard them.

Join us in celebrating local female creativity in all of its forms!

Ladyfest provides an opportunity for visitors to discuss and take action on their views on topics such as misogynism in the arts and beauty standards. It allows people attend shows by female performers,and have a good time in a space where they felt comfortable to be themselves. Ladyfest is a breath of fresh air to male dominated corporate sponsored music festivals where only a handful of women are "lucky" enough to perform every year.
