"Ladyfest to organizowany przez kobiety festiwal typu "non profit", poświęcony prezentacji niezależnej kultury kobiecej. Wyrastający ze sceny punk i ruchu riot grrrl, po raz pierwszy odbył się w 2000 roku w Olimpii (Waszyngton, USA). Idea festiwalu okazała się na tyle nośna, że podobne imprezy organizowane są w wielu miastach na świecie. Ladyfest to w pełni demokratyczna scena prezentacji sztuki artystek z różnych pokoleń i środowisk, zarówno profesjonalistek, jak i amatorek. To również przestrzeń dla debiutantek, wyzwolona z komercyjnych reguł rynku sztuki, dyktatu kuratorów i galerników.
