CALL: Invitation for Participation – D.I.Y. (queer-)feminist festival (Vienna, June 6-9, 2013)

Dear all!
We would like to invite you to participate in our self-organized D.I.Y. queer*_feminist super cool festival of awesomeness against Western bias :-) The idea to organize a queer_feminist festival originated among a small group of migrants* from this imaginary place called (South)Eastern Europe, looking for a space where they could engage in a critique of the hegemony of Western queer_feminist concepts and focus on self-representation, empowerment and networking. Since then, people from many different contexts and backgrounds agreed to work together to organize the festival. Our mutual goal is to bring together activists, artists, performers and (other) interested people from various feminist and LGBTIAQQ**- spaces and regions out of (South)Eastern contexts. Literally, we want to create a space for debating and examining representations, differences and imbedded power-relations.

Vi er i gang med å arrangere Ladyfest 2013.
2013 er jubileumsår for kvinnelig stemmerett, noe vi tenker å feire med brask og bram. I tillegg tar Ladyfest Oslo utgangspunkt i den internasjonale kvinnedagen, hvor vi i uka rundt 8. mars setter fokus på feminisme, likestilling og kultur. Vil du være med å jobbe med Ladyfest eller vil arrangere noe under Ladyfestplakaten så kom.

Race Revolt is "a zine on race politics by feminists and queers" with an emphasis on (anti-)racism, ethnicity, identity and a critical view on feminist/queer/DIY/punk activism and communities related to their own whiteness and ignorance of "race". Humaira Saeed (editor): "This is a beginning. A beginning of a much needed conversation that considers and addresses race within feminist, queer and diy communities and beyond. blog of an Ukrainian anarcha-feminist collective; emphasis on feminist theory, activism, protest, discrimination, stereotypes, lgbtq, homophobia, anarcha-feminism, women's rights, equality, anti-capitalism, violence, sexism (in media, advertising, everyday life, but also in anarchist/activist movements), body politics (abortion, reproductive rights), feminist comics/flyers/stickers/visual material, DIY, arts, etc. They work a lot with feminist/lgbtq/anti-homophobia visual material/comics, distributing it in the DIY section of their blog. In 2010 they have published a special issue print zine dealing with the problem of power structures, domination, sexism and violence in activism and especially in the anarchist movement, but also including a section about feminist self-defense.

Wir, die Strickistinnen, sind eine Gruppe wollbegeisterter Aktivistinnen und seit Mai 2010 mit unseren Aktionen im öffentlichen Raum präsent. Wir sind der Meinung „abwarten hilft nicht, also stricken wir, ein an und gegen.“ Mit unseren Strickaktionen wollen wir auf politische Zusammenhänge aufmerksam machen, im Alltag überraschen, neue Blickwinkel auf Bekanntes eröffnen, zeigen, dass vieles auch ganz anders sein könnte und textile Techniken, die weiblich konnotiert und im Privaten verortet werden, in den öffentlichen Raum einbringen. Dabei spielt der Entstehungsprozess unserer Werke eine große Rolle. Wir haben große Freude an der Entwicklung von Gemeinschaftsprojekten, den Vorbereitungstreffen (die ebenfalls im öffentlichen Raum stattfinden und damit Teil des Projektes sind), den Strickgesprächen und besonders den Montageaktionen, die immer besonders aufregend und energiegeladen sind.
