"We are three brazilian girls that made a paper zine using the internet. The Riot Grrrl Movement inspires us, the radical feminists of the 60's too, our personal expirience, [and] we try to put links between what's important for us. There's a lot of other things that are mixed in what we are doing and you can feel it reading the fanzine. It's all written in portuguese, our first issue was out on March 09 and we interviewed: Allison Wolfe (lead singer of seminal riot grrrl band Bratmobile and nowadays vocal fo Partyline) and the seminal punk feminist band from the brazilian riot grrrl: Dominatrix. Texts and artwork. Soon the second issue is done and you girls will probably heard about it. "

Can you introduce yourself?

hey! i’m 33 years old now, was born and raised as a White middle-class kid in a small town at the countryside of west-germany, close to the netherlands. after lots of trial-and-errors of how i wanted to live, and a huge depression, i left everything back there and moved to berlin in 2001, where i still am. the best choice i’ve ever made. 

What do you do besides your zine?

This is not a zine; it is an important gender minority document.

Masculine Femininity is stories, poetry, images and all those things that don’t get discussed; all those gender minorities that do not get enough recognition, visibility or representation. It comprises of people of colour, trans femme boys, faggy butches, masculine females, feminine males, trans male drag queens, gender variants, andogynes, femmes, masculine and feminine people of all genders and then some!

Vikki Law is a writer, photographer and mother who has been working on a survey of anarchist mothers for the past two years. She also put out the zine Mama Sez No War , a compilation of mothers' experiences and activism against the U.S. war on Iraq. Check out this interview about mamma, zines, supporting families in your activist community, and protest!

Tenacious zine started in 2003 after Vikki Law was approached as an outside publisher and co-editor by women incarcerated in Oregon; they needed a self-determined forum for female prisoners' voices after the mainstream media kept ignoring their proposals. Vikki wrote a piece called "Incarcerated Women Create Their Own Media" for the feminist magazine, Off Our Backs, detailing this background, and recently published a book entitled Resistance Behind Bars from her involvement in prisoner support and incarcerated women's struggles. An interview with Vikki on the role that zines play in movements for social change, and the importance of striving for liberation for all in freedom, not equality for some in injustice.
