"ABOUT LADYFEST
Ladyfest provides an opportunity for visitors to discuss and take action on their views on topics such as misogynism in the arts and beauty standards. It allows people attend shows by female performers, and have a good time in a space where they felt comfortable to be themselves. Ladyfest is a breath of fresh air to male dominated corporate sponsored music festivals where only a handful of women are "lucky" enough to perform every year.

HER-STORY OR CUNT-ROVERSY?
Perhaps you feel that 'being a female performer isn't an issue anymore. Why make it one?' Then it's likely you are someone who had never been subjected to or suffered the indignity of being ignored or patronized based on gender specific prejudices.

Maybe you feel this concept is too extreme and that it completely alienates male culture. This is certainly not the intention of this event. This annual festival is a place where women can perform with other women in a safe, friendly, predominantly female, non corporate environment. Ladyfest is open and inviting to everyone who wishes to attend and support.

LOCAL STORY
Ladyfest London will raise funds for valuable community services, specifically the Sexual Assault Centre.

Last year, a similar festival was organized called Miaow! Miaow! London's DIY/DIO Indie Womyn's Festival. The positive environment created was beautiful. So many wonderful women and men came together to create two spectacular evenings of music and art. There was so much creativity and love shared during last year's festival - we believe it will benefit the entire community to have another!

The festival will kick off with a gallery celebration showcasing handmade or decorated bags and purses. Bag submissions are currently being accepted until June 1st. Bags can be any size, shape, colour or material. From change purse to laundry sack, they can be painted, screened, knit, sewed, stapled or woven, whatever the artist's method of choice. The bags will then be auctioned off to raise money for the Sexual Assault Centre London (SACL). Artists can chose to have all or part of their auction proceeds to be donated to SACL. While it may be a 'silent' auction, the gallery will also feature musical performances throughout the event by local musicians. Get creative for a great cause and a lot of fun!"
