"LadyFest Dayton 2009 is August 21st - 23rd @ C{Space!

Ladyfest is a community-based, not-for-profit global music and arts festival for female artists that
features bands, musical groups, performance artists, authors, spoken word and visual artists, and
workshops; it is organized by volunteers.

The first ever Ladyfest was held in Olympia, Washington in August 2000 with over 2000
people attending. Prime motivators in the event were Sarah Dougher, Sleater-Kinney, Cat Power,
Neko Case, and Teresa Carmody.

"Our Manifesta

LADYFEST BELLINGHAM is a feminist, queer-oriented community organization dedicated to supporting the artistic production of women and those who identify as women. We define feminism less as a set of rules and more as a vehicle for asking questions.

We want to ask why women are underrepresented in the visual, musical, and cinematic arts- why, for example,
- Only 3% of all of the cinematographers in Hollywood are women? And a woman has never won an Academy Award for Film Directing?

"LadyFest is a community based, not-for-profit, festival established to highlight female artists, bands, musical groups, media producers, and visual artists organized by volunteers. This festival came about as a result of the DIY ethic and "Riot Grrrl" movements in Olympia, Washington as well as the many contributions by authors on inclusive feminist philosophy. The primary organizers of LadyFest are women, but everyone is encouraged to attend and volunteer at every festival.

Die Attitüde ist: Punk, der Stil: Rock vs. Elektronik, das Ziel: Feminismus in die Popkultur! Seit die Riot Grrrls in Olympia/USA sich in Ladies umbenannten und 2000 das erste Ladyfest organisierten, sind kaum drei Jahre vergangen. Im August 2003 kommt das Ladyfest zum ersten Mal nach Deutschland (Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig). In Berlin organisiert eine Ladyfest-Initiative vom 4. bis 15. August ein nicht kommerzielles Festival mit Konzerten, Filmnächten, Theorie und Praxis für Ladies und ihre Freunde und Freundinnen.

"LaD.I.Y.fest is a non-profit, volunteer run ‘Do It Yourself’ (D.I.Y.) festival of music, art, film, discussions and workshops organized and orchestrated by feminist activists, artists and musicians of various genders. It helps to showcase the skills and talents of a diverse group of groundbreaking feminist people working in the arts, community building and activism. It is a participatory festival, and most importantly, a community festival that is bound together within a worldwide network.
