"LadyFest Atlantic 2007 will be the first LadyFest East of Ontario since 2003 that will showcase women’s artistic expressions and share their ideas through music, performance, film and video, exhibitions, panels and workshops. LadyFest Atlantic provides a venue for women artists to address and counter the obstacles and discrimination that women face including sexism, homophobia, and racism.

LadyFest Atlantic is a not-for-profit, volunteer driven, primarily woman-organised, D.I.Y, grassroots music and arts showcase that is open to everyone, regardless of sex/gender identification.

The first LadyFest took place in Olympia, WA in 2000. Since then, there have been over 95 LadyFests spanning over 4 continents, with each festival reflecting a part of their own unique community with a wide array of arts, music, film, workshops, and events. Other Canadian LadyFests have taken place in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto, Guelph, and Halifax.

Ladyfest Atlantic exists to: increasing the visibility of women and trans-identified people working in the arts and activism; provide an open form for women and feminists to discuss and debate contemporary issues; build on the diversity within community and advocate pro-woman organising efforts; create non-hierarchal ways of interacting; stimulate conversation and interaction between pro-woman people of all ages, abilities, races nationalities, cultures, and genders; help foster, empower, and sustain a community that does not see race, physical ability, age, species, class, weight, sex, religion, and sexual orientation as personal identifies that negatively separate and segregate individuals and their ideas in and around the Atlantic Region."
